Long before it was a rug, the fret was carved in stone — two thousand years of Zapotec mosaics at Mitla, stepped spirals that never really crumbled. In the valley of Oaxaca, Teotitlán weavers took the same temple wall into wool: diamonds, frets, and bands, a family pattern that only changed material.
